Artistii provides the way to reach the most original and authentic items rather than just stocking and reselling popular ones. The sale typically happens between you and the artisan, and the applicable VAT depends on both your countries. Items are sourced directly from the artisan and couriered directly to you wherever possible, but sometimes they may be routed through our warehouses in order to optimise costs.
This means that the applicable VAT may differ from case to case, and in any case a reliable indication about it may be provided only when the country of delivery is known at checkout. We choose not to display VAT on any product so that prices can be comparable between all products.
Please note that the indication displayed assumes you want the item delivered within the EU. If not, the right indication for your specific case is typically the one described below as VAT and Duty excluded.
Country specific VAT excluded
This indication is used when the artisan is VAT registered and in the EU, and you are purchasing from the EU. Country code for the country will also be specified, as the VAT due often is that of the Artisan’s EU country. The VAT rate is not included in the price displayed on this page, but will be added at checkout time. In addition, there is no customs duty within the EU.
No VAT applies
This indication is used when the artisan is not VAT registered and in the EU, and you are purchasing from the EU. In this case, no VAT or Duty is applicable to the product.
VAT and Duty excluded
This indication is used when the artisan is based outside of the EU, and you are purchasing from the EU. In this case, VAT for your country will be applicable, and import Duty will also apply. These amounts will be collected from you by your local tax authority. Often, this is handled by the carrier who delivers the product to you and will require payment for VAT and Duty from you before being able to hand the item to you. Subsequently, VAT and Duty are not added to at checkout time and are not collected through Artistii.
Artistii provides the way to reach the most original and authentic items rather than just stocking and reselling popular ones. Therefore, Artistii follows different processes according to the nature of the item on sale, which is reflected in the wording of the Add to Cart button. You are always required to register before shopping, as a measure to enable required interactions with the artisans.

The number of items displayed that are available in stock is defined, and you can reserve one. In this case the items may not be reproducible further, or the production process is slow, therefore the availability needs to be defined. In order to confirm your intention to purchase the item and reserve it, you will be asked to pre-authorise a payment. Actual availability will be in any case reconfirmed by the artisan before we collect any money from you.
The number of items displayed that were available in stock was defined, but the items sold out and they may not be reproducible further in reasonable time or because of uniqueness. Yet, something very similar may be on the go. Please write to us if you are interested in the item. Sold out items are removed if no similar item is likely to be produced again.
The number of items displayed that are available in stock was defined because production is slow, but the items are reproducible, and you can pre-order them. You will be asked to pre-authorise a payment, but you will not be bound to the sale until the artisan acknowledges the production.
The number of items in stock does not need to be defined. There are two cases for this, and in both cases you will be asked to pre-authorise a payment. The first case is when production is reasonably fast so there is no need to confirm the availability of the item. The second case is when the item is personalised for you and you will usually be in contact with the artisan to define the customisations to apply. Please note that in the second case, as the item can not be sold onto someone else, it can not be cancelled.

Pashmina is an exclusive form of cashmere wool from Changthangi goats in the remote regions of the Himalayas. It is the finest, softest, warmest, and most luxurious cashmere found in nature.
The goats grow an ultra-fine, inner coat of hair that insulates them during the long, harsh winters of the Himalayas. This inner coat is collected each spring, spun and woven into premium pashmina shawls and stoles.
This fabric is handwoven because pure pashmina is fragile, and power-looms cannot replicate the delicate art of hand weaving pure pashmina. In order to weave using power-looms, pashmina is strengthened with nylon. This nylon is then dissolved to yield a pure pashmina fabric. The strength, quality, and durability of the resulting fabric can therefore be preserved only using hand-looms.
The weave done on these pashminas covers the surface with tiny lozenge shaped squares, earning it the delightful name of "chashm-e-bulbul", or "eye of the bulbul". As this weave is a masterpiece of the weaver's art, it is not embroidered upon.
